In the building industry there are seasons of activity, and we’re about to head into one of our busiest seasons yet. Our newest luxury home, The Camp Craft Residence is starting to pick up steam and it’s full speed ahead for the next year on this massive project. 

You may be familiar with our previous award-winning luxury build, The Hartford Residence from 2021. Once that property sold, we set our sights on a gorgeous piece of land in Westlake for our next endeavor. This is a unique part of Austin for us as custom home builders, but one with amazing potential. Located at the west end of Camp Craft Road, across the 360 thoroughfair, this piece of property boasts amazing views of downtown with gorgeous tranquil sunsets.

The Camp Craft Residence

Tucked away from the street on a gated, private lot, this 6,900 sq ft luxury residence is sure to be the envy of the neighborhood! The home sits on a sloped .75 acre of land, surrounded by old native Texas oak trees and plantlife. It backs up to the Barton Creek Greenbelt, which adds seclusion and privacy. Including natural landscape is an important part of our design process and we consciously aim to keep existing trees or shrubs as much as possible in all of our projects. You’ll notice in the renderings the huge sprawling oak tree located in the center of the front home design.

Architectural Partners

As we scouted architects, it was clear we needed a firm that would understand and align with our intentions. At Next Custom Homes our home designs are unassuming with natural elements and often times land challenges included as part of the project. We aim to set the home itself as an unassuming focal point, it shouldn’t be jarring or too modern, so the overall environment still feels natural. 

Once we landed on a firm, we were thrilled with the results from CoXist Studio and feel the Camp Craft Residence will truly embrace the surrounding environment, integrating with the existing treescape, in a way that appeals to modern home owners. 

Camp Craft Design

The first thing you may notice about the home is the unique shape, as the dwelling is built around a large Texas Oak tree in the center of a courtyard. The exterior of the home will feature brick, glass and other natural elements to enhance the overall property. A garden-like walkway leads to the entrance of the home, with additional decks weaving through rock gardens nestled among the trees around the property, again evoking a feeling of relaxation and seclusion. 

With a massive 6,900 sqft footprint, this home includes 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 2 powder rooms, a media room, an entertainment/game/family area, private office with exterior entrance, a pool, spa, and sauna, 2-car garage with extra storage, plus a casita with an additional private entrance and bathroom. The main portion of the home features a modern kitchen, sunken living room and a dining area that flows out onto an outdoor living and entertaining space. A rooftop terrance completes this home, which is sure to be an ideal place for hosting, entertaining or reflecting among the trees.
